Home Again, Home Again, Home Again

At lunch one day before pneumonia hit.

For the third time in two months, Lisa has returned home from a multi-day hospital stay. The latest visit was due to her intestines “being lazy” as one doctor put it. Her bowels are not 100% back to normal, but they improved enough over the last 4 days that the doctors felt she no longer needed to be in the hospital. The exact cause of the problem is unknown, but it is most likely a combination of things (surgery + pneumonia + radiation treatment + medications + ?) .

As you can imagine, she couldn’t wait to leave the hospital, get back home, and sleep in her own (new) bed. She is in very good spirits, but extremely weary. Radiation therapy alone is very draining, but when you add in hospital stays, surgery, pneumonia, and not eating very much, you get a perfect storm of fatigue.

Over the next few days, as her food intake increases, her strength should start coming back and she should start feeling better.
