Next Up, Bronchoscopy

Lisa is still in the hospital being treated for pneumonia and will most likely be there all week. She has been on intravenous and oral antibiotics since Friday night. Although she is feeling somewhat better, her oxygen levels are still too low, she still has shortness of breath, and her chest x-rays don’t show any marked decrease in her lung infections. The doctors have not yet identified the exact cause of the pneumonia, so tomorrow she will have a bronchoscopy, which should result in a definitive diagnosis. Once we know the pathogen causing the problem, we’ll have a better idea of her treatment and how long she’ll need to stay in the hospital.
